Island Inn
3813 Padre Blvd
Comfort Suites
912 Padre Blvd

Comfort Suites is in a convenient, central location for exploring South Padre Island attractions. The 74 rooms are spacious, and feature microwaves and mini-fridges, although some rooms (depending on the category) show wear and tear. This hotel does offer free breakfast and free Wi-Fi -- along with a big outdoor pool surrounded by tall palm trees -- but it isn't located on the beach and there is no fitness center. With tube TVs and tired decor in some rooms, this hotel is a bit dated, but varied room layouts can accommodate groups of different sizes.

Econo Lodge

Staybridge Suites Corpus Christi
5201 Oakhurst Dr

The Staybridge Suites Corpus Christi caters to families and business travelers on extended stay with its spacious, clean rooms and full kitchens. Its central location in a commercial district puts guests midway between downtown Corpus Christi’s cultural attractions and the beaches to the southwest. The surroundings aren’t the most glamorous, and you’ll need a car to get most everywhere -- but there are some perks to staying here, including plenty of dining and shopping options nearby.

Omni Corpus Christi Hotel
900 N Shoreline Blvd

The Omni Corpus Christi Bayfront Tower’s 475 updated rooms feature tasteful, modern decor and comfortable beds. However, the balconies, with wonderful views of the city and sea, inexplicably lack patio furniture. Well-located near the Corpus Christi Marina, the Bayfront Tower offers easy access to great dining and cultural attractions, and the harbor. Decent amenities such as a small indoor/outdoor pool, fitness center, and an outstanding rooftop restaurant are also draws.

Best Western Padre Island
14050 S Padre Island Dr

Best Western on the Island is a budget motel-style property overlooking Corpus Christi Bay. The hotel is off South Padre Island Drive, which leads to downtown Corpus Christi. The area feels a little quiet and spaced out, but there are affordable food options nearby. The rooms are fairly large and clean, with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and microwaves. While freebies -- such as breakfast, Wi-Fi, and parking -- are plentiful, amenities -- like a gym and full restaurant -- are not. Families, however, appreciate the outdoor pool.
