La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Marble Falls
501 Hwy 2147 W

This scenic, pet-friendly hotel in the Texas Hill Country has stunning views of the lake for a bargain price. The lower-middle-range property is peaceful, with private balconies, fireside lounging, an outdoor pool with a waterfall, and picnic tables. It's also a convenient three- to four-minute drive to the charming center of Marble Falls, where there are several restaurants. This is helpful since there’s no full restaurant on-site, although the hotel offers a free hot and cold buffet breakfast and a store stocked with beer, wine, and snacks. The 73 rooms are certainly generic, but they're outfitted with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and microwaves, plus all face the lake and most have balconies. This property offers one of the best values for the area, though the pricier Horseshoe Bay Resort offers a ton more for both kids and adults.

NYLO Las Colinas Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
1001 W Royal Ln

Nylo Dallas Las Colinas is an upper-middle-range loft-like boutique property located in Irving, Texas, about a 20-minute drive northwest from downtown Dallas. The funky, modern hotel offers an affordable, fashionable option and is geared toward travelers in their 20s and 30s. The venue’s proximity to the airport also makes it convenient for those passing through on business. Six meeting rooms are on hand, including a 4,000-square-foot ballroom. The scenester swimming pool and LOFT restaurant are youthful touches. Guest rooms are well designed and distinctive, but a little cramped and may not suit the taste of those who prefer more conventional spaces.

Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas
221 Las Colinas Blvd E

The upscale Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas is a classy hotel on Lake Carolyn in the affluent community of Las Colinas that is home to many major corporations. Its large inventory of meeting space stays busy hosting corporate events, and it’s a popular hotel for couples celebrating special occasions. It offers 421 clean and spacious rooms with lovely white marble bathrooms, minibars, and coffeemakers. The full-service spa includes a salon, and the hotel has a fine-dining Italian restaurant and heated, lakefront pool. It offers free covered parking, but valet parking is pricey, and Wi-Fi is not free for all guests. Another option nearby is the five-pearl Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas, but guests should expect to pay higher rates there on most dates -- especially in summer.

La Copa Inn Beach Hotel
350 Padre Blvd.

The La Copa Inn Beach Hotel offers a great waterfront location with easy access to the beach over a pretty wooden walkway. The hotel resembles the local La Quinta Inn, but is slightly more polished. This is a beach hotel for the budget-conscious, with tired hallways and furniture, but a nice outdoor pool with plenty of lounge space. The outstanding feature here is the waterfront location on a popular beach at the southern end of South Padre Island's hotel sprawl. The basic fitness center and small business center are somewhat lackluster, but there's a small snack bar near the swimming pool. Rooms are simple and some offer balconies. While free Wi-Fi and daily breakfast make this hotel great value for the appealing location, some guests complain about wear and tear.
