Sporthotel Rosatti
Via Campiglio 14

This family-run, mid-sized, mid-range hotel is located in the quaint town of Dimaro in the Val di Sole/Trentino area. Breathtaking views of the Dolomites and easy access to major skiing/hiking areas make this property a solid budget choice for those looking for an active vacation. On-site amenities include a lovely heated indoor swimming pool, a small fitness center, and a wellness center with a sauna, Turkish bath, relaxation area. Though the older rooms are less appealing than the ones located in the more modern annex section, all are clean and comfortable.

Alpenresort Belvedere Spa - Gourmet - Dolomiti
Via Nazionale 9

Alpenresort Belvedere Wellness & Beauty is a 56-room upscale ski resort, nestled in the mountains, and overlooking Lake Molveno. Rooms are luxurious and stylishly simple; many offer balconies with panoramic views. The property offers convenient ski-in and ski-out options, as well as ski lessons and a free ski shuttle. A health spa is available for post-slopes relaxation, and the hotel also rents out bikes for free in warmer months. There are other upscale hotels located nearby, but the Alpenresort Belvedere is newer than most, thanks to a major renovation.

Villa Rizzo Resort & SPA
Via Gerardo Napoletano

Nestled into expansive orchards and offering beautiful views of the countryside, the Villa Rizzo Resort & Spa is a gorgeous boutique property suited to leisure travelers looking for a country holiday, albeit one with upscale amenities. Originally built as a farm, the hotel includes 18 spacious (but a bit bare) rooms, as well as a large outdoor pool, an on-site restaurant serving Mediterranean cuisine, and a full spa and wellness center with whirlpool, Turkish bath, steam room, and fitness center, as well as specialty massages and treatments. Guests will need a car to get to this hotel, and for getting around; the remote location and winding roads can make it a bit difficult to find, but incredible views and tranquility await guests on arrival.

Corte del Salento
Via Prov.le Borbagne

Opened in 2008, the Corte del Salento Club Village is a modern hotel with 124 guest rooms arranged in a village-like setting. The guest rooms have private entrances and some have balconies. The hotel has a big swimming pool with lifeguards, a soccer field, and a tennis court. There’s a private beach with shuttle service, but the service comes at a fee, which is included in the mandatory Club Card, and the beach can be crowded. The restaurant serves themed meals three nights a week, and there is a bar on-site. Guests have expressed a wish for more fruit and better coffee at the buffet breakfast. The entertainment staff organizes activities that are popular with children, making the hotel a good fit for families.

Hotel Alba Chiara
Via Lungomare Matteotti, 10, Marina di Melendugno

Solely a restaurant in the past, this property now also houses a small value hotel built in 2010. The large restaurant still serves delicious pastas, pizzas, and fresh seafood dishes, and there are 11 basic rooms and one suite conveniently located for exploring the area’s beaches. There are beautiful sea views from many parts of the hotel, including some of the rooms.

Boutique Hotel Ilio
Via Sant' Andrea, 5, S.andrea Isola D'elba
Residence PuntaCassano
Lit Lecce - Otranto, Località San Foca

Visitors to San Foca looking for basic, clean accommodations with a waterfront location should consider the 15-room Residence PuntaCassano. Just steps from the sea and the shops and restaurants of the San Foca promenade, this three-pearl, apartment-style resort features rooms with flat-screen TVs, balconies or patios, and kitchenettes. There's a lovely garden planted by the owner, plus an outdoor pool with lounge chairs and umbrellas for guests' use. It's a popular choice for families -- especially Italian families -- who enjoy the kids' playground on property. Laundry is available and Wi-Fi is free. There's no restaurant or gym.

Corona Dolomites Hotel Andalo
Via Dossi 6

There is little to find fault with at the sustainability-minded, upscale, 43-room Corona Dolomites Hotel. The building itself is well presented and the interiors are a mixture of contemporary smart and traditional cozy. Rooms are particularly modern, minimal, and well equipped, as is the spa and pool area. Mountain views can be enjoyed from many areas, though other hotels do obscure some of the views. An on-site restaurant and activities for kids make this a good spot for a family vacation. All-in-all it's a good pick in a convenient location a short walk from the ski lifts and the rates are more than reasonable.

Piz Galin Grand Hotel Family & Wellness
Via Dossi 1

The upscale 55-room Hotel Piz Galin covers every base when it comes to the kids -- from a separate pool and menus to activities and performances all geared towards the little ones. The grown-ups do have a spa to relax in, and the indoor and outdoor pools are a hotel highlight. The location is also great for activities, with a popular ski resort next door. Rooms are average, but clean and comfortable, and some have mountain views. All in all, it's excellent for families with younger children, though perhaps it has more limited appeal for those without.

Hotel Nordik
Via Paganella 11

The Hotel Nordik is a mid-range, 30-room property that has been run by the same family for four generations, which shows in both the interiors and the affable atmosphere. Kids are well looked after in the kids' club, leaving parents to enjoy the impressive, though fairly small, spa. Rooms are cozy though not particularly remarkable -- some have great views. Free bikes, breakfast, and parking keep rates low. The best endorsement for this hotel, however, is the high rate of return guests, meaning the property is certainly doing something right.
