Aparthotel Vista Pacifico
Apdo 108

Aparthotel Vista Pacifico is a three-pearl hotel set on a hillside on the outskirts of downtown Jaco. The hotel’s nine guest rooms are neat and cozy, and most have well-equipped kitchenettes, plus breakfast is included in rates. Impressive views are the property’s stand-out feature, with rolling green landscapes and ocean views from the balconies or terraces of most rooms. There's a lovely outdoor pool, but other than this, there's not much else in the way of on-site facilities. The main drawback is that there’s nothing within walking distance, but it’s less than a 10-minute drive to buzzing Jaco and the beach. Travelers interested in a family-friendly hotel closer to downtown might prefer Hotel Mar De Luz.

Courtyard by Marriott San Jose Escazu
Autopista Prospero Fernandez, Calle Marginal N, Plaza Itskatzu

The three-pearl Courtyard San Jose Escazu provides the comfort and familiarity of the Marriott brand at an affordable price, especially given that it’s in pricey Escazu. Its 120 rooms are spacious and clean, albeit with a fairly generic executive look. They offer mini-fridges, espresso coffeemakers, Paul Mitchell toiletries, plus balconies -- many with scenic nature views. Business travelers particularly enjoy it here, and common amenities include a lovely garden pool, a good fitness center, several event spaces, and a casual restaurant with a great breakfast and lunch buffet (plus a la carte options), though breakfast isn’t free. The Courtyard is walkable to a number of restaurants -- some right over the road -- and in close proximity to great shopping. Those after a more boutique feel in a prettier part of Escazu could try the Holiday Inn Express San Jose - Escazu.

Hotel Boutique Indalo
Corner 219A Street & 67 Avenue, 85 meters west of Taller Dani car mechanic workshop

The Spanish family that established Hotel Boutique Indalo designed their hotel as an escape destination at value prices. The low-key hotel is quiet and somewhat isolated, a few streets away from the main excitement hub of Costa Rica's Caribbean town, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. Several beaches such as Playa Negra, Cocles, and Puerto Viejo beach, all surfer go-to spots, are within three kilometers from Indalo. Rooms here are spacious and minimalist, resembling the bare bones decor of an art gallery space, and do not have TVs or air-conditioning. While there isn't a pool or full restaurant, the dog-friendly hotel provides free Wi-Fi, free parking, laundry services, and a full Mediterranean breakfast for a small fee.
