Melia Barcelona Sarria
Avenida de Sarria 50

The 333-room, upscale Melia Barcelona Sarria is designed with business travelers in mind, with a modern high-rise feel and fully equipped on-site convention center. Although the atmosphere is not intimate and lacks local color, modern guest rooms have every amenity, and some have great city views. The Level, an exclusive floor devoted to the finer things (think tapas and cocktails, panoramic views, and personal concierge service), is available for guests wanting a more luxurious experience. The on-site Yhi Wellness Spa is a serene place to relax after a long day of meetings, and the lovely fitness center is open 24 hours. The hotel is not in a popular tourist area, but cabs, buses, trolleys, and the metro are convenient and provide easy access to all Barcelona.

Senator Barcelona Spa Hotel
C/Cardenal Reig 11

The Senator Barcelona Spa Hotel is a peaceful property located outside the city center within walking distance of the Camp Nou stadium. The less populated location offers an appealing, if slightly dated, spa and massage center complete with an indoor grotto-like pool and a rooftop outdoor pool. There is a massive breakfast buffet and a charming piano bar on-site. Rooms are clean and air-conditioned with minibars and kettles, but Wi-Fi is weak and there's a pesky fee for spa access.

Gallery Hotel
Rosello 249

The 110-room boutique Gallery Hotel belongs to a small Spanish chain, but there is nothing cookie-cutter about this upscale property. Set a 15 minutes' stroll from Las Ramblas, the hotel is perfect for tourists and close enough to the downtown to suit business travelers. The peaceful rooftop, with a pool and bar/grill, is an ideal spot for guests to cool off and recharge. Rooms are sleek and upscale, and, like the rest of the hotel, are decorated with original contemporary art and photography on the walls.

Hotel Del Mar

The 72-room Hotel Del Mar is a budget property with an excellent Barceloneta location, within walking distance of numerous shops, restaurants, bars, and the beach. It's also well situated for taking public transportation to places farther afield, as the Barceloneta Metro station is a two-minute walk away. Rooms are nothing fancy and a bit dated, but they're clean and come with air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and safes (the latter for a fee). Some have small balconies, and the Matrimonial room has a large furnished rooftop balcony overlooking the city. Breakfast is provided for a fee, and there's a TV room for group lounging. Travelers wanting budget digs in the Barri Gotic might check out the Hotel California, which offers free breakfast and a bar, but can be noisier.

Aparthotel Atenea
C/ Joan Guell 207-211

The 105-room Aparthotel Atenea is located a short walk from the famous Camp Nou football stadium in Barcelona. Though removed from tourist attractions, the metro is nearby and the neighborhood has bars, restaurants, and supermarkets. Updated rooms have appealing minimal decor, flat-screen TVs, and stocked kitchenettes (making these rooms popular with extended stay business travelers). The hotel has meeting rooms, an on-site restaurant serving locally-sourced fare, and free Wi-Fi.

Condes De Barcelona

Situated on one of the most famous streets in Barcelona, this chic, modern hotel is within walking distance of some of the city's best sights. The Condes’ 126 rooms have understated, Scandinavian-style decor, large windows, and (in some) private balconies. A delicious restaurant, sexy rooftop lounge, and serene terrace are additional highlights. It's one of the best options for the price in Eixample, but those who prefer a location closer to the Plaza de Catalunya and Las Ramblas may want to consider Hotel Pulitzer (though it lacks the Condes de Barcelona's pool).

Pension Segre

The 24-room Pension Segre is a value hotel with an excellent location in the Gothic Quarter. It's close to the beach, nightlife, restaurants, and Las Ramblas, and public transportation is nearby as well. Rooms are basic and no frills, but some have en-suite bathrooms and/or balconies. There's no air-conditioning, which can be rough in the summer, and only floor or table fans are offered for cooling. There's also nothing in the way of features here aside from a communal area with a small TV, microwave, and mini-fridge. Most guests who stay here do so for the price and the location. Travelers looking for a more colorful budget property could check out the funky Generator Barcelona, which also offers features like a bar and social events that add a ton of value.

Hotel Acta Antibes

This 71-room mid-range chain hotel offers a great bang for your buck considering its location in beautiful, peaceful neighborhood that's a three-minute walk to a metro station and a 10-minute walk to the Sagrada Familia. Rooms are basic with bland decor, but include small flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. There is no fitness center or restaurant, but breakfast is served each morning for a fee.

Alimara Barcelona Hotel
C/ Berruguete 126

For business or leisure travelers who don't mind being removed from the hustle and bustle of central Barcelona, the three-and-a-half pearl Alimara is a good value, and offers easy metro access to many tourist attractions. The hotel is clean and modern and has a few amenities, including a pretty central courtyard, a small fitness center, an a la carte restaurant, and a separate breakfast buffet restaurant. However, the property lacks a pool. The 156 rooms are clean and spacious, with features that include flat-screen TVs and air-conditioning. The hotel's location just off the busy Ronda de Dalt means some guest rooms are subject to noise, though. Request a room on the opposite side of the hotel from the motorway for a quieter room. Business travelers will likely find the express check-in/checkout and 14 meeting rooms useful.

Ayre Hotel Caspe
Carrer de Casp, 103 L'Eixample

The 141-room Ayre Hotel Caspe is modern and large, with pops of inspiring avant-garde designs and furniture. It largely attracts budget-minded couples, and is particularly geared towards business travelers with its nine spacious meeting rooms, a business center that includes two PC computers and a printer, free Wi-Fi, 24-hour front desk service, a gym, and an on-site restaurant and bar. Rooms are more inviting than the common areas (which can feel a bit sterile), but are pretty basic -- aside from the spacious bathrooms and attractive, modern fixtures. The Confortel Auditori, around the corner, has more stylish rooms at similar prices and offers a rooftop pool.
