The fully equipped apartments -- which can sleep up to 10 -- have upscale furniture, dining and lounging areas, full kitchens with fridges stocked with drinks and breakfast food, and washing machines. There aren't many on-site facilities here, but the charming grounds have a lovely landscaped garden with a koi pond. Travelers seeking apartment-style lodging might also want to consider the Aurelia Vatican Apartments, which are a bit closer to the city center and offer cheaper rates, but are not as stylish nor do they offer as many amenities.

Of the 192 rooms spread out over eight floors, the suites on the higher floors with balconies are the favored accommodations; the decor isn't quite as luxurious as some may expect given the advertised five-star rating. While babysitting is available, families should be aware there is a steep charge for extra people in the room.
